On Friday, December 5th, the Fremont First Friday Art Walk will be enhanced with the spirit of the Fremont Festivus, with bargains, entertainment, and all kinds of celebration of the Fremont shopping season!
Fremont Festivus starts with the tenth annual lighting of the statue of Lenin, in Red Triangle, at 5p along with feats of strength, airing of grievances, dancing ‘round the Festivus pole, and lots of prizes! Listen to Fremont Philharmonic Orchestra, visit with Fremont’s Santa and snack on free treats provided by Pie and Starbucks.
At 6p, stroll out into the Fremont district to see art, find sales, listen to music and get free stuff at:
- Art F/X – Enjoy photos by Peggy Curtis, and shopping a broad selection of art and artisan items – take a 20% discount on purchases of $50 or more through December 31, if you say ‘Fremont Festivus!’ three times fast. (Valiant efforts will suffice.)
- District Fabric – Check out colorful fabrics and art supplies for your holiday handicrafts, with all sequins 20% off on Dec 5th & 6th to satisfy your sparkly Festivus needs!
- evo – check out the outdoor enthusiast art by Eric Pollard.
- Frame-Up Studios – see a collection of scientific art works by Emelia Martin, Christopher Monson, Michelle Poston, Elizabeth R. Smith, accompanied by the live music of Tangere, a wonderful fusion of jazz, blues, Latin and pop.
- Fremont Health Club – a holiday crafts fair of creative gift items from artists Kim Morris and Cammi Chase
- Fremont Jewelry Design – artist display by Laura Tempest Zakroff, surrounded by fine jewelry created by a variety of talented craftspeople, and delicious treats
- Johnston Architects – retail art and artisanal items will be on-display, along with a few nibbles
- Pel’Meni Dumpling Tzar – find paintings, recycled record art, ceramics, photographers, and prints by approximately nine different artists – with plenty of small, inexpensive gift items for sale – plus beverages, sweets, and a drawing for free dumplings. Or, get $1 off any dumpling purchase by using the phrase, ‘Make art, not war.’
- Portage Bay Goods – this whimsical art party features gift items, buttons, goodie bags, chocolate and art by Kyler Martz at the shop for the thoughtful procrastinator.
- Schilling Cider House – For those 21+, this art fair will offer well-priced pieces for sale – and delicious hot cider (and cold!)
- Silence-Heart-Nest – original paintings and musical compositions (performed live) by Sri Chinmoy will be on-display, along with yummy refreshments and warm beverages.
- Sweet Spot Sugaring Studio – a gamut of painters to glass artists, with photographers and jewelers, can be found here along with Santa. Look for works by Adam One, Michelle Anderst, Aimee Oberstein (of Lea Bela Jewelry,) Courtney Martin, Merrilee Moore, Ray Gun Goods and De Cicio.
