On March 6th from 6p – 9p, the Fremont First Friday Art Walk offers a free, cultural experience.  With the weather forecasted to be 60 degrees, and sunny, this is an ideal time to spend a spring evening viewing art around the Center of the Universe.

At Pel’meni Dumpling Tzar, meet Seattle artist Stephanie Morales.  University of Washington student and mother of two, Morales uses acrylic and pencil mediums to create works influenced by her travels throughout the U.S. and Europe, as well as portrait work.  While at Pel’Meni, also check out new gluten-free dumplings, an offering of adult beverages, and good company.

At Portage Bay Goods, see pieces by Frida Clements from her ‘Have a Little Pun’ series.  This illustrator/graphic designer’s silk-screened posters have become synonymous with the vibrant music scene of the Pacific Northwest as she’s done posters for musicians from Andrew Bird to Sleater-Kinney.  In addition to seeing the art, also find items in the PBG gift shop up to 70% off, and participate in a bit of pre-spring cleaning up!

At Frame-Up Studios, pieces created by Patrick Joy from found objects often challenge a viewer’s perception.  Creative energy fuels the artist’s vision and a refinement in his use of unconventional materials suggests that imagination and skill are of equal merit.  While at Frame-Up, also see pieces from the February show of art by B.F. Day Elementary School students (all sales go to support the school’s visual arts program,) and check out a special selection of custom framed mirrors.

Finally, while not an official part of the Fremont First Friday Art Walk, also check out the Asian New Year celebration of health and healing at Dragonfly Holistic Healing.  A Japanese Koto music performance will take place at 7p, and light refreshments will be on-hand from 6p – 10p.

The First Friday Art Walk offers an excellent opportunity to expose yourself to culture while visiting interesting venues all over the Fremont neighborhood.  Find out more about the Art Walk on the website, or stop by the venues listed above – or those on the website – to see for yourself!
