Arc Iris Performs At Fremont Abbey Next Thursday

OK-Sweetheart-Arc-IrisSep15_1-590x912On Thursday, September 17th, at the Fremont Abbey Arts Center, Arc Iris will be performing genre-bending music that shifts between cabaret-infused jazz, orchestral sophistication, grimy outlaw country, and big-band exhilaration, all held together by delicate and whimsical harmonies.

Arc Iris crystallizes the talents of composer, singer and multi-instrumentalist Jocie Adams, and puts center-stage her rigorous classical training and the visceral rawness she can express out of hard-won experience.  Arc Iris’s multi-faceted musicianship also includes Zach Tenorio-Miller on piano, Mike Irwin on trumpet, Robin Ryczek on cello, Ray Bell on drums, Max Johnson on bass, and Charlie Rose on steel banjo and trombone.  “Arc Iris encapsulates that sense of the future for me,” Adams explained, “a sign of something beautiful that will hold my hand for a long time.”

On stage, the disciplined backgrounds of the members of Arc Iris morph seamlessly into spontaneous innovation.  Band members don’t play set parts so shows never quite repeat themselves two nights in a row.  Such on-the-spot acts of creation require two key ingredients:  mutual trust, and individual nerve, and Arc Iris claims to have a healthy dose of both.

Decide for yourself by attending this show of creativity at the Fremont Abbey on September 17th, with Arc Iris and OK Sweetheart.  Purchase tickets through Brown Paper Tickets, for $10 in advance or $13 at the door, and find more information on the Facebook event page.
