The Seattle Office of Arts & Culture, in partnership with the Seattle Department of Parks & Recreation, is seeking an artist, or a team of artists, to design, fabricate and install a site-integrated artwork piece for outdoors in a new park to be located at the intersection of Westlake Avenue and Lenora Street. The deadline for submissions is January 12th, 2016.
All professional artists residing in the United States are eligible to submit for Artist’s Call. The artist, or artist team, selected will receive a $110,000 commission to design, fabricate and install the permanent art piece. They also must work closely with the park design team to integrate the piece into the site being developed, to make this an artwork that enhances the experience of visitors and passers-by.
Preferably, the art will frame the experience, promote the discovery and/or define the space of the Westlake & Lenora Park. The artist, or the artist team, are encouraged to consider the character of the Denny Triangle neighborhood surrounding the park, and envision a piece that visually engages commuters as they pass through this area.
The deadline for artists to apply is 11p on Tuesday, January 12th. Apply on the Call For Entry (CaFE) website. Questions on this Call For Artists can be directed to Jason Huff at 206/684-7278 or jason.huff@seattle.gov
