Applications are due March 6th for those interested in joining the Seattle Tilth free volunteer training program, and learning how to be a Master Composter /Soil Builder this spring.
Turn garbage into gold, and become a climate change hero! Americans waste an average of 25% of all food and drinks they purchase, and all this waste generates nearly one quarter of the U.S. methane emissions. Alternatively, when it’s kept out of the garbage and composted, food waste is an incredibly useful soil amendment – and ‘gardener’s gold.’
In partnership with the Seattle Public Utilities, Seattle Tilth offers free training in the latest knowledge of composting and soil building. Through four weeks of classroom learning, hands-on practice and field trips, starting March 22nd, Master Composters learn about soil science, natural yard care and the lesser-known benefits of recycling. Master Composters then share information and experiences through the service projects they choose, at locations all over the city.
Find out more about composting and soil, and teach others, by reading more details on the Seattle Tilth website. Help reduce greenhouse gases, store carbon and make gardener’s gold, with this practical Master Composter / Soil Builder program.
