The next round of Arts in Parks (AIP) grant applications has been opened by the Seattle Department of Parks & Recreation and the Seattle Office of Arts & Culture. The deadline for applications to this program, intended as outreach to underserved communities, is October 19th, 2016. Individual artists, neighborhood arts councils and local community-based groups are invited to apply for these grants, funded by the Seattle Park District.
AIP grants can be used for temporary art installations, artistic performances, festivals and other events in Seattle public parks, especially for underserved, immigrant, and refugee communities. Groups that apply need not be 501(c)3 non-profits, nor are they required to use a fiscal agent. Funding support ranges from $1,200 to $7,200. The Fremont Arts Council Luminata Lantern Walk, on September 21st, is one of the AIP funded projects.
Guidelines, and applications, for future AIP grant program, can be found on-line. However, applicants can also learn and get information at a free workshop:
- Sep 7th (Wednesday) from 5:30p – 7p in the 2100 Building RSVP on-line
- Sep 9th (Friday) from 1:30p – 3p in the Delridge Library RSVP on-line
- Sep 10th (Saturday) from 11:30a – 1p in the Green Lake Library RSVP on-line

All application projects must have a significant arts & culture component, and be free and open to the general public. A Put The Arts in Parks 2016 brochure, listing Summer 2016 events funded by the AIP program in its pilot year, as well as all the other details about this grant, can be found on the AIP website.
