On Saturday, January 28th, at 2:30p, Dusty Strings Music School is offering three special, simultaneous, two-hour classes taught by musicians Bill Evans, Dan Crary and Martin Stevens. Hone your skills, and gain new ones, with one of these one-day-only classes.
The three classes are:
- Exploring Bluegrass Banjo Styles for immediate and advanced bluegrass banjo players, who want to learn melodic and single-string styles with Bill Evans. Explore the progressive banjo sounds of today’s leading players with this down-to-earth, hands-on session that can enable you to play everything from fiddle tunes and jazz standards to Bach. This class is ideal for those getting started with the bluegrass style, as well as the more experienced players who want to deepen their knowledge. Students will learn to map out scales and get comfortable finding melodies to use in all kinds of tunes.
- Strengthen Your Foundation on Mandolin, if you are a late beginner to intermediate player, regardless of your end-game goal with the mandolin, whether you want to jam with friends or perform someday at Benaroya, it’s always good to strengthen your foundation. With Martin Stevens, learn more about what chords and rhythms to play in certain situations, and get more comfortable letting loose with an improvised lead. Music is at its best when you’re having fun, so come and enjoy this mandolin-filled afternoon.
- Practice Tips For Flatpicking Guitar from Dan Crary, one of the founders of the flatpicking movement. He can help you speed up your mastery of the fretboard. Learn tips for how to get the most out of your practice time, how you can progress more quickly, and how you can use your ear to find out what you want to play.
Each class costs $40. Register through Dusty Strings, either on-line, or at 866/634-1662. Find more information about the musician/instructors, and their concert that night, also on DustyStrings.com
