Through January 31st, Seattle Public Utilities will accept Christmas trees and holiday greens for no extra charge, provided they are placed next to your food & yard waste bins on your regular collection day.  Seattle residents can also drop off holiday trees and greens for free at the North Transfer Station, through January 31st.  (Please read about size requirements before composting your tree.)

Remember, the North Seattle Transfer Station has re-opened for full service, and the new facility is designed to handle waste more efficiently.  Take your excess garbage, recycling, or compost to the Station, just east of Stone Way on N 34th, seven days a week from 8a – 5:30p.

Even in inclement weather, SPU advises clients to put out their waste carts as usual.

With significant snowfall in Seattle for the first time since 2012, this winter has been full of weather surprises.  When roads are icy, solid waste pick-ups may be set on pause until conditions improve.  Seattle Public Utilities asks for patience, and that you put your carts out on their regular schedule.  If service is interrupted due to inclement weather, please leave your carts out and they will get picked up the following day.

Visit Seattle Public Utilities on-line for the most up-to-date information about service interruptions, and answers to many other questions about trash disposal.
