For an organization like FamilyWorks, which is about food, connectivity and community, the battle against COVID-19 has required big sacrifices. Of course, everyone has been impacted by the social distancing required but it has been especially hard on the most marginalized people, including those who depend on the services of FamilyWorks.
They are currently seeking volunteers who might be able to make home grocery deliveries. If you are available as a back-up delivery driver, please submit an on-line interest form (click here,) and check the box for ‘Grocery Home Delivery.’
For now, in the FoodBank, volunteers are pre-packing bags of groceries, and opening early to avoid congestion and to keep the line moving – plus, distribution is being done outside. The Family Resource Center has had to cancel all group activities, but they are still handing out diapers, socks, and hygiene supplies at the food bank. The Resource Center staff are also preparing bags of school supplies with lesson plans and self-care kits for adults.
If you can donate, items, money or time, please visit the FamilyWorks website (click here,) to find out what is needed!
