Through Sunday, September 20th, Orchestra Seattle & Seattle Chamber Singers (OSSCS) are sharing a locally produced film, called ‘The Bowmakers’, for a digital premiere. In partnership with the filmmakers, these viewings of ‘The Bowmakers’ will raise money for OSSCS.
OSSCS Music Director William White said of the film that he “was blown away. It’s moving, insightful, and full of all sorts of information about how bows are made that I, a string player for some 28 years, did not know.” A film about artistry, music, woodcraft, botany, history, and geography, ‘The Bowmakers’ takes a personal look at the lives of five artisans. The featured crafts persons in this documentary live right here, in Western Washington, and exemplify the creativity and skill of generations of those who make the tools of our music happen.
For a modest ticket price of $15, OSSCS supporters and fans can watch this fascinating film in the comfort of their home, or anywhere they have a screen. Those who really enjoy, and feel the impact of ‘The Bowmakers’, can watch it as many times as they like – and share it with family and friends.
The first 500 ticket buyers will also be invited to participate in a Zoom Q & A webinar with Ward Serrill, director of ‘The Bowmakers’, and Robert Morrow, one of the featured bow makers. The discussion will take place on Sunday, September 20th at 2p.
Purchase a ‘ticket’ for $15, or see the trailer to this absorbing documentary, on the ShowAndTell website (click here.) This ‘story of the most important instrument you’ve never heard of,’ will support musicians, and Orchestra Seattle and the Seattle Chamber Singers. Please check it out, and enjoy!
