Seattle Parks & Recreation has begun construction on six playfields around the City, including sections of Lower Woodland.
Seattle Parks is replacing the aging synthetic turf on six playfields with new state-of-the-art synthetic turf systems, and has awarded the construction contract to FieldTurf USA. To increase the project efficiency, the synthetic field replacements are being done in one package.
In addition to replacing turf at Lower Woodlands Playfields #2 and #7, from mid-October through December, Seattle Parks is replacing:
- Magnuson Park – Mickey Merriam Playfields #6 & #7 (closed Sep – Dec, 2020)
- Loyal Heights Playfield (closed Sep – Nov, 2020)
- Queen Anne Bowl Playfield (closed Oct – Nov, 2020)
Each project includes the removal of the worn-out synthetic turf, and the structural repairs to curbing, sub-surface and drainage. During construction, the fields will be closed with Seattle Parks and the contractor working to minimize impact to the roadways and neighborhoods.
