Fremont Market Prepares For A Spring Return

As of mid-January the scheduled start of the new Fremont Market season is March 7th! Image provided by Northwest Marketplaces

Sundays are currently quiet and tranquil in Fremont, for those who like that kind of thing.  Northwest Marketplaces is promising a return of the fun energy, and outdoor shopping, of the Fremont Sunday Market this spring – and NOW is the time for prospective vendors to start preparing.

In its 30th season, the Fremont Sunday Market re-opened following strict guidelines from the City of Seattle, and careful attention to safety by its vendors, volunteers, staff and customers.  Through considered and thoughtful policies and processes, the Fremont Market managed to open its festive open-air experience in the Fall of 2020 without any COVID-transmissions.

For 2021, Northwest Marketplaces plans a return of the Fremont Sunday Market, as well as a few of its other alternative shopping events, but it will require pre-planning by vendors.

Vendors, even food vendors, will need to be members of Northwest Marketplaces and curated by Fremont Market staff in order to register for booth spaces in 2021.  During the global pandemic, vendors cannot show up on the day-of and set up a booth.  It is important that anyone who wants to have a presence at the Fremont Sunday Market this year to submit a vendor application today!  (Click here to find the application process.)

King County & Seattle Public Health has established regulations governing how the Market can operate, for the safety of everyone, and Northwest Marketplaces will be strictly following those rules.  Currently, caution tape surrounds vendor booths, to keep shoppers from randomly approaching, although that restriction may ease in 2021.  Restrictions are easing about the distance between booths, leading to important decisions about whether to have more booths, and fewer customers, or fewer booths and more customers.  Vendors will still need to have hand-washing stations, and entry to the Market will be gated and limited to a pre-set number.

Registration by vendors, and want-to-be vendors, can be done by ManageMyMarket (click here,) or by e-mail to vendor@nwmarketplaces.com.  Northwest Marketplaces expect restrictions and regulations, and policies, to change and adapt as COVID-19 transmission prevention changes.  Registered and member vendors will be kept apprised of the changes as they are made.  They can also be considered for participation in the South Lake Union Saturday Market and the Holiday Market in December.

Right now, Opening Day for the Fremont Sunday Market is scheduled for March 7th!  Expect more information to come for customers about how we visit the vendors and support these micro-businesses.  The hyper local, globally inspired and community positive Market for OVER 30 years!
