This weekend, July 25th & July 26th, the Fremont Outdoor Cinema will host two movies, with the conclusion of the Wes Anderson film series and a fundraiser for Three Dollar Bill Cinema. Get your urban camping gear, gather friends and family, and secure your spot at 7p at Phinney Ave N & N 35th Street – for movie nights under the stars.
First up, on Friday, July 25th, enjoy a remastered version of Rushmore, the second film by auteur director Wes Anderson, and one that earned several awards and commendations. Starring Bill Murray, Olivia Williams and Jason Schwartzman, this drama concerns Max Fischer, a precocious 15-year-old king of extracurricular activities at Rushmore, a private school. His friendship with wealthy industrialist Herman Blume leads to an odd love triangle, when both fall for a pretty teacher. Purchase pre-paid tickets, at $5, for Rushmore, on-line.
All those 21+ can then go to a second Outdoor Cinema on July 26th, to see Wet Hot American Summer, and purchase Fremont Brewing Company craft beers, Jameson Irish Whiskey and Ginger Beer. Adult beverages can only help this satirical comedy, and wildly outrageous film, about a fictional Jewish summer camp – in 1981 – and the plentiful supply of one-liners and crazy antics featured in this cult favorite. With Janeane Garofalo, David Hyde Pierce, Paul Rudd, Molly Shannon, Christopher Meloni, Elizabeth Banks, Bradley Cooper, Amy Poehler, and Zak Orth, this film’s tag line, ‘High Times. Hard Bodies. Soft Rock.’ says it all. All benefits from the $10 tickets will go to Three Dollar Bill Cinema – pre-paid tickets can be purchased on-line.
Enjoy movies? Love hanging out with friends on a summer evening? Attend one of the Outdoor Cinema films coming up – and consider signing up as a volunteer. Find out more this weekend, or visit the Fremont Outdoor Cinema website and the Facebook page.
