This Friday, January 3rd, from 6p – 9p, take a tour of Fremont by its art works. The First Friday Art Walk has a vast variety of venues showing an amazing selection of art.
The First Friday website has a list of the venues with displays this month. Make sure to check out these regular contributors:
- At Portage Bay Goods, see works by ‘The Shower Art People’ – Rosalie and Doug Gale. Their waterproof art can be hung in a shower, or anywhere, and is made of rubber, glitter, discarded toys and a fair amount of sarcasm. Find more info on the Facebook event page.
At Pel’Meni Dumpling Tzar, find delicious food and the exciting work of a local, emerging artist – Anja Soldwedel. Self-taught, Soldwedel enjoys creating pieces both unique and thought-provoking. Her pencil and acrylic paintings of the female form and feminine themes will be on-display in the lobby of the Fremont Mini-Mall.
- At Frame-Up Studios, Olympia-based artist Mimi Williams continues to share her original linoleum block prints. These familiar images always incorporate an unexpected, and bewildering, twist.
For more information about the Art Walk, and the venues participating, visit the Fremont First Friday website. Best of all, wander the ‘hood and check out the offerings. Fremont is fraught with art, and on the First Friday, that art is at its most visible!
