At Karin Collins Taiji & Qigong Studio, kids can spend mid-winter break learning ‘Kung Fu Acting for Movies.’ Combining cinematic and martial arts, this fun series of classes – held February 20th through 24th – will allow aspiring actors a chance to perform scenes from their own original scripts.
Over the five days, students will become familiar with the camera, and the process of filming an action filled movie scene, as they explore character, expression and dramatic interaction. The class will conclude with a ‘red carpet’ ceremony and a screening of their original Kung Fu movie.
Taiji (Tai Chi,) a form of Kung Fu, will be the martial arts template for solo and choreographed movements for the film. Through fun exercises, kids will learn the core principals and movements of Taiji including meditation and calming practices, plus strength and flexibility training. Acting for film also builds confidence, and boosts self-awareness, listening skills and cooperation.
