On November 29th, for Small Business Saturday®, the Regional Administrator for the Small Business Administration (SBA,) Calvin Goings, visited eleven businesses in eleven small business districts around Seattle. He spoke with the owners, asked why they think people should ‘shop small businesses’, and gave them information on the resources the SBA provides.
In Fremont, Goings visited Wish – a small clothing boutique – and owner Sabrina Ibrahim. When asked why, Ibrahim explained, “I know my customers. I know what they like.” She can offer better customer service than large stores, and a selection of items chosen by careful study of the Wish customers’ preferences.
Wish currently has two stores – one here, and one in Wallingford – and when asked about the future, Ibrahim hesitantly mused about someday creating, “three Wish-es…”
Goings had the meeting with Ibrahim and the other shopkeepers recorded, and edited into a video that can be seen on YouTube, to further promote small businesses – and the benefits of supporting our small business districts.
