A Weekend Of Free Entertainment – Outdoor Movies & Covered Concert

TheRoyalTenenbaumsposterThis weekend, spend time enjoying yourself in Fremont, again – and this time, for free!  On Saturday, July 12th, the Fremont Outdoor Movies season starts with a free screening of ‘The Royal Tannenbaums’, the first in a three-week series of films by auteur director Wes Anderson.  On Sunday, July 13th, from 2p – 4p, after strolling the Fremont Sunday Market, take a break from the heat in the shaded courtyard of History House to enjoy a Music In the Sculpture Garden acoustic concert featuring Kevin Jones & Doyle Wood, and Billy Glover.

On Saturday, the Outdoor Movies, sponsored by Talenti Gelato, start their season with a star-studded slice-of-life-in-bizzaro-land film.  The movie starts at dark, but gates open at 7p for first come, first campsite set.  Bring-Your-Own-Chair, and while food trucks will be on-hand, attendees can bring in their own food and snacks too (no alcohol, please.)

MITSG2014PosterOn Sunday, the Music In The Sculpture Garden, produced by John Nordstrand, features fine Pacific Northwest musicians in the casual, family-friendly courtyard behind Milstead & Co Coffee.  This week, enjoy acoustic rock and blues with local musician Billy Glover.  Then, Kevin Jones & Doyle Wood take the stage, playing guitar and mandolin, with original lyrics and music known to get people dancing as if there was a full band playing.

Fremont always offers plenty of opportunities to play and enjoy!  It may be hot this weekend, but that shouldn’t keep you away from the Center of the Universe!  Come out and have fun!!
