On February 2nd, celebrate the sighting of the Groundhog, the 7th Anniversary of the Dumpling Tzar or just the end of the work week, with the Fremont First Friday Art Walk, from 6p – 9p. Explore the ‘hood, meet the artists, and enjoy some free snacks, while you take in the art at our amazingly diverse venues.
The Fremont Art Walk has nearly a dozen participating venues (pick up a list at Portage Bay Goods,) but make sure to visit:
- Portage Bay Goods will deliver some mid-century inspiration with art by Amber Leaders, the crafty creator of colorful prints, cards and more. Check out the art while exploring the gift shop’s amazing selection of interesting items, with snacks!
- Frame-Up Studios has extended the color-filled ‘Blue Friday’ art show, by Brittany Hunt, for another month. A local artist, Hunt finds inspiration in color and nature, which she expresses in painting, art direction and graphic design. For this show, Hunt has assembled works on the ‘blue’ theme – with nods to our Seahawks, literally blue art, and some ‘I’ve-got-the-blues’ pieces.
- Dumpling Tzar is celebrating its 7th Anniversary during the FFF, and they will have art, cake, beer and, of course, the delicious dumplings they’ve become known for serving up at the Center of the Universe.
- Fremont Jewelry Design has a double Valentine treat in store with Stasia Burrington showing her ‘Witchy Watercolor & Acrylic Bodhisattvas’ and Grace Matsumoto, of TinyFatBird, holding a trunk show of her hand-fabricated jewelry. Come check out the popular jewelry of TinyFatBird, and the paintings Burrington has done just for this show.
- Outsider Comics & Geek Boutique will also feature jewelry art. They will have a pop-up shop with Aimee, of Leia Beila Jewelry, as a complement to Spring Fashion Week at Outsider.
There will be plenty to see during the Fremont First Friday Art Walk this week, and many great – dry – places where you can step inside for a break from the drippy weather. Come out and get a dose of FREE culture, during the Art Walk for February!
