On Friday, April 6th, from 6p – 9p, the Fremont First Friday Art Walk will welcome people to come stroll the ‘hood, looking at art – and marking the full arrival of Spring in Fremont with a wander ‘round. This is a great chance to visit venues you haven’t stepped inside in months, and see art that you might not otherwise encounter in the normal course of life.
This Friday, check the Fremont Art Walk web map (click here) to see the venues participating, but be sure to stop by:
- Fremont Jewelry Design – Owner Lisa Lemire Magetteri will present her own multi-media works, using paper, metal, glass, gemstones and more, for the possibly last-time. Magetteri has sold the shop, and this will be a great chance to see her work, one more time, and wish her well! In addition, jewelry artist Sarah Jayne Seal will be having a trunk show of gorgeous minimalist pieces, very understated and feminine. Each piece of jewelry is thoughtfully designed to be graceful, balanced, and wearable even with an active lifestyle.
- Portage Bay Goods – Help celebrate 20 Years of Procrastination (and 20 Years of Portage Bay goofiness) by stopping by during Art Walk to see the mindfulness series by local artist Yuko Miki, of Honeyberry Studios. While the arrival of spring is awesome, the change of season can be unsettling and Miki’s art helps her stay grounded during times of change – and may help you as well. Also enjoy the wine and snacks, while exploring the art and great gift items at Portage Bay.
- Friday Afternoon Tea – This newest venue to join the FFF Art Walk will feature works by multi-media artist Zan Edson. Stop by the shop to see his whimsical works, and talk to Edson about his work. Maybe sample a tea or two while discussing art with the artist, and neighborhood folk.
- Frame Up Studios – Illustrator Graham Franciose creates narratives in his work, that embodies internal conflicts, doubt, loneliness, wonder and apprehension. One of America’s most gifted artists, this showing of his work is certain to create more fans. Come support a local artist, and Fremont’s longest operating retailer.
- Oohla’s Salon, Gift & Gallery – Stop by and see the seasonal art show, featuring paintings by Brooke Borcherding. Depicting Seattle and Pacific Northwest scenery, these works have been created with an innovative, deconstructing twist. Be sure to take a moment to also look at the selection of gift and beauty items for sale in Fremont’s oldest hair salon – keeping everyone, of every age, gorgeous for decades.
The Fremont First Friday Art Walk offers a free entertainment option to anyone looking to expand their exposure to art, and their understanding of the Fremont neighborhood. Be sure to check it out on April 6th, from 6p – 9p.
See you there!
