Due to continued concern about the COVID-19 pandemic, the art venues in Fremont aren’t offering a Fremont First Friday Art Walk on August 7th. The opportunities to stroll the neighborhood and enjoy the public art on display remain endless, but there are limited options for the art inside our shops and restaurants.
Two of the regular FFF Art Walk venues are welcoming everyone, so check out:
- Portage Bay Goods – Knowing it’s not so easy to venture out comfortably, Fremont’s procrastinator’s gift shop is bringing local art by Jenna Roby straight to your eyeballs with a Virtual Art Walk. Browse the collection of watercolors by Roby, and see a quick introduction and short tour by the artist herself! Click here to see it all!
- Down Under Gallery – In order to avoid crowds, and COVID transmissions, the Gallery will be open on August 7th from Noon to 9p, allowing for viewing of original art. Through the end of September, the Gallery at the bottom of the stairs has beautiful, abstract photos by emerging artist Judith Rayl, with her show ‘The Liquid Phase of Light’. Rayl’s raw, single-capture, limited-edition photos are mounted, framed and gorgeous, embracing the tender beauty at the intersection of nature and the human-made. In addition to this striking show, the Down Under also has hand-blown glass by Rodman Gilder Miller, textile and photo art by Sarah Weathers of Vibrant Poppy, international photography by Adrian Laney and prints and jewelry by Scott Lantz.
The Fremont First Friday Art Walk remains a great excuse (as if one were necessary,) to explore the Center of the Universe – if you can do it safely. All of Fremont’s businesses want everyone to do everything they can to avoid the continued transmission of COVID-19, so we can return to the full, functioning fun of Fremont! If we all wear our face coverings, keep socially distant, wash our hands, and stay home when sick, maybe we will all be able to enjoy a larger, even more exciting September 4th FFF ArtWalk.
