This Friday, October 5th, from 6p – 9p, the Fremont First Friday Art Walk will bring a free evening of culture and community as visitors stroll among a variety of venues. The weather forecast is for rain on Friday night, but Art Walk will brighten the night with creativity and color – and an opportunity to explore the art of the Center of the Universe.
The Fremont First Friday Art Walk involves several area businesses, displaying art and hosting the artists. Find an up-to-date list of venues on the SquareSpace.com website (click here.) Be sure to check out these highlights:
- Portage Bay Goods – Seattle artist and muralist Cady Bogart will have her acrylic paintings on display at the gift shop. Stop by to meet Bogart and learn about her art and her process. Find out more on the Facebook Event page.
- Outsider Comics & Geek Boutique – Check out art by Erika Heins, a local illustrator of Tolkien-inspired works. While at Outsider, ask about the upcoming fashion show and learn about the amazing activities organized by this specialty shop.
- Johnston Architects – While it’s a little off the beaten path, this large venue has amazing art by Tom Hoffman and self-described expeditionary artist Maria Coryell-Martin. See her works from the Arctic, Antarctic, and some recent sketches from her NASA project.
- Frame-Up Studios – See the vibrant, bold colors of the paintings of John Hunter. His works feel alive, with an undeniable sense of movement, in paintings that tell a story.
- Down Under Gallery – This will be the Grand Opening for this new gallery, and it will be displaying the international photography of Fremont’s own Adrian Laney, and his ‘Scenes from the Sidewalk’ series. In addition, this is the offices for Fremocentrist.com and columnist Kirby Laney will be fielding questions and stories from visitors about Fremont, and the Center of the Universe in general. Come by 465 N 36th to see the photos, or join the Community Chat – or just check out this newest venue for showing local art.
Rain or shine, the Fremont First Friday Art Walk provides places for seeing and exploring art around the neighborhood. Check the Fremont Art Walk website (click here,) to find out about the places you can go!
