Artist Trust 2020 Fellowship Recipients Announced, Including Former Fremonster

Artist Trust awarded nine Washington Artists, including Fremont’s Dan Friday (lower left,) with Fellowships.

The nine recipients of the 2020 Fellowship Awards, given by Artist Trust, include literary artists Rena Priest and Sharma Shields, performing artist Benjamin Hunter, multidisciplinary artists Jaleesa Johnston and Chris E. Vargas, and visual artists Tatiana Garmendia, Mary Ann Peters, Anthony White and Dan Friday.

Artist Trust awards its Fellowships based on merit to practicing, professional Washington State artists of exceptional talent and ability.  This support is given in recognition of these artist’s dedication to their practice and to recognize their artistic excellence.

“These nine artists from vastly different regions across Washington State exhibit incredibly exemplary work,” said Artist Trust Program Manager Luther Hughes.  “Writers performers, musicians, photographers, painters – they are also in community with their peers doing necessary work, shining the light on injustices, reminding us of the power artists hold.”

One of the 2020 Fellowship recipients, Dan Friday, worked, created and lived in Fremont for many years.  Now relocated to Shoreline, in Fremont Friday’s studio and hot shop in the alley off Evanston Avenue often had special glass treasurers for those exploring the neighborhood.  Today, you can see the glass creations by Friday that explore the beauty of blown glass influenced by his Lummi Nation heritage on FridayGlass.com
