On Wednesday, February 14th, everyone is invited to attend one of the Ash Wednesday services going on – before or after celebrating Valentine’s Day.
According to the Church Of The Apostles (COTA), the imposition of ashes, a traditional Jewish sign of penitence, symbolize our mortality. COTA meets at the Fremont Abbey Arts Center, and will hold Ash Wednesday services at 7p on Feb 14th.
In addition, on the first Sunday in Lent, February 18th, at 4p, volunteers are needed to assist COTA with assembling care packages. Volunteers are needed, as are cash donations towards the purchase of items missing from the care package supplies.
The Emmanuel Bible Church will have a simple, quiet Taize-style service of song, with the traditional imposition of ashes. The Ash Wednesday service will take place on Wednesday, at 6:30p.
Not to miss out on Valentine’s Day, Emmanuel will host a simple Valentine’s Tea Party Celebration on Tuesday, February 13th at 10a. This open event will not focus on romantic relationships, but rather on the overwhelming love that God has for each one of us.
