Author Julie Otsuka Reads From Book On Japanese Internment

On Monday, March 9th, at 7p, author Julie Otsuka will read and discuss her book, ‘When The Emperor Was Divine’.  This FREE author event is being hosted by Seattle Pacific University at the Upper Gwinn Commons.

The New York Times bestselling author’s book has been featured in King County’s National Endowment for the Arts Big Read.  The Big Read is a community literacy endeavor co-sponsored by Seattle Pacific University, to provide opportunities for people to read a shared book and discuss.  Books chosen for the Big Read matter to Pacific Northwest history and culture.

‘When The Emperor Was Divine’ is about the Japanese internment in America during World War II.  Come hear more about this tragic time in history, and about Otsuka’s book, at this free author event.
