On Saturday, June 13th, from 2p – 4p, the Sun Dragons from our own B.F. Day Elementary School will be out running around their immediate neighborhood, raising money for their school. The entire Fremont community – residents and businesses – are invited to support our kids with decorations and donations!
It’s the Sun Dragon Quest! Please clear the way on sidewalks and streets around the Center of the Universe, to allow our children to be cheered on their runs. Put out a dragon, applaud from your porch or front yard, and encourage the exercise.
This annual Fun Run usually takes place on the playground at historic B.F. Day School, but this year students are seeking out Sun Dragons along the Phinney cliffs, through the mists of Gas Works, in the shadows of the Fremont Troll, and along the mystical Burke-Gilman Trail. The kids will make note of all the Dragons they find, along with photos (taken by adult sidekicks) of particularly sneaky dragons being posted on www.BFDayFunRun.com.
As they ‘run’, the kids will attempt to maintain a safe, social distance, which will be made easier if our community steps out of the way, and clapping from the sidelines. Students will be wearing their t-shirts, identifying them as Sun Dragon Questers!
Break out trumpet or drum, dress in adventuring garb, don your mask, and hang out your Sun Dragon for finding by our brave B.F. Day-ers. Also consider making a donation to fund social-emotional initiatives of the B.F. Day PTSA, especially in supporting staff, the arts, field trips, and cultural programs. You can donate per dragon found, or simply give a flat amount to help our kids. All donations go directly to the B.F. Day PTSA. Visit the B.F. Day Fun Run website (click here,) for more information.
