On Sunday, June 16th, from 1p – 3p, the Ballard-Fremont Greenways is participating in ‘The Ride for Safe Streets’, formerly called ‘The 1000-Person Bike March.’ This ride will go from Seattle City Hall to Westlake Park, to encourage city leadership to make our streets more accessible to all cyclists and pedestrians.
‘The Ride for Safe Streets’ will start with a rally, including a live band and guest speakers. The roll down 4th Avenue to Westlake Park will terminate with another live band playing at the finish. Everyone is invited to participate, and raise awareness of the need for safe streets for people of all ages, languages, ethnicities, genders, and abilities.
Starting the same morning, June 16th, at 11a, a family-friendly, kid-focused ride will kick-off from the Fremont PCC Market. The Father’s Day Kidical Mass, hosted by Familybike Seattle, will get situated at the Market, then roll towards Seattle City Hall, after a brief stop at the Museum of History & Industry, before joining The Ride for Safe Streets. The Kidical Mass will keep a casual pace, and is an easy-going, law-abiding bike ride appropriate for kids of all ages.
