On Friday, February 2nd, at 8p, local musician, Emily Ann Peterson, will celebrate the release of her new book, ‘Bare Naked Bravery: How To Be Creatively Courageous’, at Fremont Abbey Arts Center. Joined by singer-songwriter Brittain Ashford, the evening will be one of song, storytelling and book signing.
In 2013, Peterson was diagnosed with a degenerative neurological hand tremor – devastating news to a professional cellist and cello teacher. Rather than lose her primary form of expression, music, Peterson found the courage to defy her condition through songwriting. In time she broke through her creative glass ceiling, and opened a door to limitless possibilities.
In ‘Bare Naked Bravery’, she tells her story but she also shares a personal understanding of what bravery really can be, beyond the fear, anxiety and self-sabotage. She wants to help readers to find ways to avoid fleeing reality or cowering in corners, hoping all the grief, fear and anxiety will go away.
On February 2nd, Peterson will talk about her book but she will celebrate the release through music – her own and that of Ashford. Come hear the concert, and learn a few of the lessons of ‘Bare Naked Bravery’, at the Fremont Abbey. Tickets to this all-ages show can be purchased through EventBrite for $10 – or $15 on Day of Show. Come see Peterson, an old Fremont friend, and hear about her journey to bravery – and how you can follow!
