The Barrel Thief Wine & Whiskey Bar continues to offer its entertaining yet educational line-up of events for the 21+ crowd.  This week, enjoy a ‘Battle Of The Bourbons’ on June 11th from 7p – 9p (for $10 per person,) and a free wine tasting entitled ‘Grenache or Go Home’ on June 12th from 5p – 7p.

On Wednesday, the first ever ‘Battle Of The Bourbons’ will give attendees a chance to blind taste from a selection of twelve Bourbons, and vote for their favorite.  Sample a 1/3rd ounce taste of six of the 12, and give each a grade.  At the end of the night, based on the scores on the big board, one of the 12 will be crowned, ‘King of the Bourbons!’  Each sample of six costs $10 per person, with no reservations or advance tickets required, and those who want to sample all twelve can participate twice!

On Thursday, the next in the Barrel Thief series of free wine tastings will feature the Grenache grape varietal.  Grenache is a hot-climate grape widely planted in Spain and Southern France, but also grown in California, Washington and Sicily.  The wine produced from this red grape has spice and a light color, and can be expressed in wine differently in different regions.  The tasting will include educational information about Grenache, and deals on purchasing specially selected bottles of wine from France, Spain, Walla Walla, and Seattle.  Representatives from Vinum Importing will be on-hand to help pour this great summertime wine, and answer questions.
