On Saturday, February 8th, at 6:30p, KPH & The Canary Collective will be performing a womxn-centered, benefit concert at the Fremont Abbey Arts Center. This album release concert for ‘The Canary Collective: Vol 1’ celebrates sensitive canaries in the proverbial coal mine and the people with chronic illness, struggling to afford healthcare, safe water, food, air and housing.
Few artists today articulate their journey of overcoming discrimination with the profoundly healing voice of the disabled. KPH spent years fighting for social justice. Becoming disabled, she has married the worlds of art and activism, engaging her gift for storytelling and deft touch for radically inclusive organizing.
The album release concert will include special performances from gender-bending performer Namii, and the Brooklyn-based Mutual Benefit. Purchase tickets, for $22 (though no one will be turned away for lack of funds,) through EventBrite (click here.)
A benefit show, 40% of ticket sale proceeds (after costs of production,) will be donated to two organizations – the queer, black, womyn-run performing arts non-profit Earth Pearl Collective and the youth-led climate justice organization Sunrise Movement.
Heal our bodies, and the earth, holistically, at this benefit concert.
