On January 1st, voting closed for Fremont’s Best of 2016 – and today we announce (and honor) the winners!
Each year Fremocentrist.com readers, and other supporters of the Fremont community, vote on their choices for Best Business, Best Citizen and Best Non-Profit Organization (or Project) in the last year. This year, thanks to the Fremont Branch Library, more people than ever were able to cast a paper ballot, in addition to those sent by e-mail directly to the Fremocentrist.com office.
The votes were counted, the trophies engraved (with due care by Scott’s Trophy) and distributed, and the winners are:
- 2016 Fremont’s Best Citizen: Rodman Gilder Miller, local artist and an involved neighbor who has served on the Boards of the Fremont Arts Council and the Fremont Chamber of Commerce
- 2016 Fremont’s Best Business: PCC Natural Markets – Fremont, our local grocery co-op has long-established its bone fides as a caring community partner over 23 years at the Center of the Universe
- 2016 Fremont’s Best Organization: The Fremont Arts Council. Do you need more reasons than the Solstice Parade? If that’s not enough, check out the upcoming Petit Troll and May Day, plus the monthly community public meetings (called the C.O.W.) held at The Powerhouse (next one scheduled for February 14th.)
Honorable Mention must be given to two worthy almosts: The Fremont Studios came in a very, very close second for Fremont’s Best Business, and the Rotary Club of Fremont (a.k.a. The Fremont Fun Club) gave the Arts Council a run for its… um, bicycles?
Thank you to everyone who voted! Voting for 2017 opens on November 15th, with both e-mail and paper ballots accepted again this year. Please consider your selections in the coming year – and be sure to give our 2016 winners a hearty CONGRATULATIONS along with support for the great work they’ve done in making Fremont fun, fabulous and forever phenomenal!
