Big Holiday Art Walk (& Lenin Lighting) on First Friday, December 6th

See this amazing new show by Todd Ingalls, and his collaboration with a collection of dancers, at Frame Up Studios through Dec 2019.

The Fremont First Friday Art Walk is extra-special this month, and has more going on than it has in months.  FFF is always a great activity for walking around the neighborhood, to see new venues and check out the art, all for free.  You can do the Art Walk before or after your evening activities, or as a group tour with friends or family.  There is always something for everyone at Fremont’s Art Walk, especially this month.

On Friday, December 6th, from 6p – 9p, the Fremont First Friday Art Walk will feature over a dozen venues – and all the merriment and original art will be kicked-off at the feet of the Lenin statue.  Lenin Lighting is a family-friendly, neighborhood gathering with live music (by SeaTown Sound,) beverages (by the Rotary Club of Fremont,) games, dancing, and a visit from Fremont’s Santa.  The lighting takes place at 6p, but the entertainment (and silliness) starts at 5p for those willing to brave the cold and/or wet.

For the Dec 6th Art Walk, check out these amazing shows:

  • At Portage Bay Goods, enjoy the abstract, de-constructive paintings of Brooke Borcherding, while exploring the amazing collection of gift items available in this creative shop. The first Art Walkers in the doors of PBG at 6p will be given a special gift bag, while supplies last, but snacks and adult beverages will be available throughout the evening.
  • At Fainting Goat Gelato, see local photography by Ian Hameroff on display, with hot chocolate and seasonal gelato flavors available for purchase.
  • Frame-Up Studios will be showing the series ‘VEIL’ by photographer Todd Ingalls – an extraordinary collection of images of dancers. Already known for showing astonishing art, Frame-Up has declared this to be their most anticipated show of the year.
The works of Brooke Borcherding look ‘amazeballs’ on the walls of Portage Bay Goods through Dec 2019.
  • The Down Under Gallery is currently featuring photos by Adrian Laney, from his recent ‘Fall Walkabout’ series of images taken around Canada and the U.S. In addition, the Gallery has knitwear by Sarah Weathers, hand-blown glass items by Rodman Gilder Miller, and photos by Michelle Bates.  Unfortunately, Laney won’t be able to be on-hand during the FFF, but there will be a reception for him and this show on Sunday, Dec 8th from 2p – 6p.
  • At Friday Afternoon Tea, enjoy the works of art of Danie Hadsall, alongside fine teas and several surprise snacks.
  • Ancient Arts Veterinary & Gallery has a display of art, pottery and jewelry by Dr. Darla Rewers, much of which would make great gifts for anyone on your lists.
  • Starbucks Fremont, from 5:30p – 6:30p, will have a special show of spoken word and rock-n-roll, not to be missed.

In addition to these select venues, make sure you check out – Esters Enoteca, Juniper Flowers, Outsider Comics & Geek Boutique, SPACE Building, and Saturn Building.  As always, check the Fremont First Friday Art Walk website (click here) to find out about all the participating venues.

The Art Walk is a great, free way to explore Fremont, and expose yourself, and your friends, to original art being created now – as well as the artists themselves.  Whatever you do this Friday, get Art Walking!
