On Tuesday, July 30th, bike out to eat out for a good cause! From 5:30p – 9:30p, join in the fourth annual Spoke & Food event at 20 different restaurants in 20 different neighborhoods – including Pete’s Fremont Fire Pit.
All it takes to participate is to bike to any host restaurant – and invite friends and family to join in – as you purchase a meal. Each restaurant has agreed to donate 20% of their revenues that evening to this year’s Spoke & Food selected beneficiary Bike Works.
An innovative non-profit, Bike Works invests in young people, and through its programs it encourages bicycling as a clean and healthy transportation alternative. They teach students, ages 9 – 17, bicycle repair over eight class sessions – and allow the swap of community repair for a recycled cycle. They also stock over 100 used bikes for sale at great prices to support Bike Works programs.
In 2012, Spoke & Food raised $4,450 for the FamilyWorks Resource Center & Food Bank. Ride out to enjoy a delicious meal, and support a good cause – that supports healthy activity and independence in our youth. For more information, visit the Spoke & Food website.
