Brown Paper Tickets Celebrates National Good Neighbor Day September 28th

In observance of National Good Neighbor Day this Friday, Sept. 28, Brown Paper Tickets has started visiting Fremont businesses to drop off “Good Neighbor Gift Packs,” as a means of sharing goodwill and creating awareness for the free community resources offered to our neighbors by the world’s only Not Just For Profit ticketing company.

If you work in downtown Fremont, don’t be surprised if you are visited by a Brown Paper Tickets employee handing out Good Neighbor Gift Packs.  Good Neighbor Gift Packs include baked goods, buttons, temporary tattoos, and an invitation to use a free community workshop space in Seattle’s Fremont neighborhood, gain assistance from the company’s team of “Doers” in any city in the US or Canada, and to use a new fee-free donation tool to collect donations online for any community event.  (A Fremocentrist.com column from July 2011 explained about Brown Paper Ticket ‘Doers.)

If your business would like to contribute an item to the Good Neighbor Gift Packs, would like to deliver gift packs to your neighbors, or would like a gift pack delivered to your place of business, send an email to Brown Paper Tickets’ “Do Good” Doer.

Some other ways suggested by Brown Paper Tickets for celebrating Good Neighbor Day include:

1.  Pay it forward.  Think of or notice something that your neighbor would ordinarily have had to do themselves, and then do that thing for them.

2.  Stop, smile and say “hello” to your neighbor.

3.  Talk for a few minutes instead of rushing on with your day.  You don’t have to come over with a pie or a gift basket (although those are great ideas, too!)  The greatest gift you can give someone is your time, attention, conversation and consideration.

4.  Neighbor networking.  Throw a block party or a progressive dinner, plant a community garden or organize a fundraiser.  The possibilities are endless!

5.  Contribute your time and resources to a neighbor’s need or cause.  If they are shoveling snow, and you own a snowblower, bring it out and help them!  If they are raising money for a nonprofit, offer to help with the details.   Being a good neighbor does not have to cost a thing!
