The Seattle Office of Arts & Culture (ARTS), in partnership with Seattle Public Utilities, is seeking to commission one artist/artist team to design, fabricate and install an outdoor, two-part artwork.  As part of the Ship Canal Water Quality Project, the City is seeking an art work that celebrates our community identity and history with two points of installation on either side of the Fremont Bridge and Lake Union Ship Canal – one near NW Canal St & 2nd Ave NW, and another near 244 W Ewing St.  The deadline for applications to this call is Wednesday, June 12th at 11p.

The selected artist will receive a commission of $180,000 to design, fabricate, and install the completed art work, including travel expenses, taxes and other project costs.  This call is open to professional artists residing in the U.S., but in order to build diversity into the Seattle Office of Arts & Culture collection, artists not already in the collection will be seen more favorably.

Applications for the Ship Canal Public Art project can be submitted on-line to CaFÉ (click here.)  For more information on this project, visit the CaFÉ page or contact Maija McKnight, Public Art Project Manager, at maija.mcknight@seattle.gov or 206-684-7311.
