A call for artists and performers has gone out through the Fremont Arts Council. Across the River Arts invites local, emerging artists to submit visual or performing art pieces to be exhibited and/or performed at the Fremont Abbey Arts Center on July 12, 2012. Pieces should center around the theme “Extraordinary in the Everyday.” The deadline to apply is April 15, 2012, and an application can be found on the Across The River website.
This event offers an opportunity fordeveloping artists to showcase their work to a welcoming audience, and to reachan innovative section of the arts community.Original, new or existing works by the artist are eligible. These can be:
- Paintings and Photography no larger than 3 ft. x 3 ft.
- Sculpture and Mixed Media: ceramic, glass, and metal sculpture 20 lbs. or less
- Video/Film: 5-10 minutes or less
- Performing Arts: Dance, Music, Spoken word, Theater, and other formats welcome
- Work must an original piece by the artist. New works and existing works are both eligible.
- Artists may inquire if they would like to be partnered with others (i.e. dancers with choreographers, musicians, etc.)
Applications, found on-line, can be e-mailed to acrosstheriverarts@gmail.com and include:
- Artist resume if available, 3 pages max (not required)
- An application form
- Work samples: If you plan to create new work for the show, allsamples should reflect your past work and help provide context of the styleof work you plan to submit. If you are submitting existing pieces, pleasesend the specific files for those and indicate that in your application.
- Visual Arts: Submit images of up to 5 works. (.jpg, .ppt, .doc, or .pdf)
- Music: Submit 2 audio samples of work (.wma or .mp3)
- Film/Performing Arts: Submit 1-2 videos of work (.avi, .mpeg,.wmv, .wma) or upload 1-2 videos to YouTube or Vimeo and email the link.
The application deadline is April 15, 2012. All artists will be notified by
May 1, 2012. Accepted artists will submit finished work by June 25, 2012 for final curation and review. Visual artists may choose to sell work at the show.
