Muralists are needed by the non-profits Homeless In Seattle and Facing Homelessness to help with an art project, called ‘Street Heart’ that will help fund the ‘Just Say Hello’ awareness campaign.  They need volunteer artists to paint colorful portraits of individuals who live on the street, and all artists (professional, student, and/or hobbyist) are needed to help.

By April 1st, a brief Statement Of Interest (300 words or less) is needed, to streetheart34@gmail.com, by artists willing to paint a mural for display on the offices of these charitable organizations – located in West Fremont, along the Burke-Gilman Trail, and visible from Leary Way.  Along with the statement, interested artists can submit 3 – 5 digital images of past artwork, with two of the pieces, at least, being portraits.

Artists will be provided with supplies to paint the mural, including a primed wood ‘canvas’ anywhere from 2’ x 2’to 3’, and exterior latex paint.  (Artists who request it can use their own materials.)  The paintings need to be completed by May 30th, and will be coated with a protectant varnish before being put up for public display.  After at least six months of display, the works will be auctioned off to benefit the awareness campaign.

If you are an artist able to execute portrait paintings, please browse the Homeless In Seattle Facebook page and Facing Homelessness website, to better understand the efforts of these two non-profits and appreciate how much your art could help raise awareness for these two causes.
