This Friday, July 3rd, start the holiday weekend with a stroll of art, and interesting venues, with Fremont’s First Friday Art Walk from 6p – 9p.
The FFF Art Walk always has interesting art on display, for free, with many of the venues offering nibbles and, occasionally, air-conditioning. Check the FFF website for a list of venues, or pick up a printed map and list at:
- Frame-Up Studios – The extraordinary photographer, Arturo Torres, will be displaying, for the first time at Frame-Up, his images capturing the world in all its architectural splendor. Throughout his travels, Torres has taken photos highlighting the beauty of the interplay of color and light, and perspective.
- Portage Bay Goods – From the riverbanks of our sister city to the south come modern lightboxes produced by Portland company Sparrow & Sundry. See the delightful ‘snowglowbes’, created in Jen Amos’ workshop from re-purposed wood and illuminated by a white LED, in the air-conditioned comfort of this whimsical gift shop.
- Pel’Meni Dumpling – As this growing eating establishment prepares to relocate next door in the former Deluxe Junk space, they’ve commissioned posters from area artists. At the July FFF, Art Walkers can help choose the winning poster – and enjoy some adult beverages (for those 21+.) Order dumplings and get $1 off by using the phrase, ‘Make art, not war.’
Many other venues will be displaying art during this month’s FFF, on the eve of Independence Day. Come out and explore, and check the FFF Art Walk website for more details!
