This year the Fremont business of Dusty Strings marks 40 years of making high-quality harps and hammered dulcimers.
To celebrate 40 years of building these gorgeous, legacy instruments, Dusty Strings has designed and created two harps from a special batch of highly-figured cherry wood. Two things led Ray & Sue Mooers to build the Dusty Strings instruments: a love of music and a love of wood. The anniversary harps are also part of the FH365 line, known for a clear, sparkly, even, deep, and resonant sound.
Dusty Strings officially launched in 1979, making hammered dulcimers and adding harps once the requests became impossible to resist. Hammered dulcimers remained the most popular instrument until around 2002. Currently, Dusty Strings builds 80 to 100 instruments a month. Before the end of the 40th year, Dusty Strings will have built 40,000 harps and hammered dulcimers.
Come see and play these spectacular and special harps. Also, read a more detailed description of the premium instruments on the Dusty Strings blog (click here.) No matter what, stop by the Dusty Strings store and school, and let them know how proud our neighborhood is of the success of this incredible, independent business.
