On December 1st, 2nd & 3rd, Fremont Festivus will celebrate the season, and shopping sales in our business district, with several free events. The weekend will begin, as always, with the Fremont Chamber Lenin Lighting, on Friday at 5p, to be followed by the Fremont First Friday Art & Gift Walk, from 6p – 9p.
On Saturday, Dec 2nd, the Roamin’ Holiday Bazaar takes place, all day. This new addition to Fremont Festivus has two parts: a day of discounts, deals and demonstrations, and a drawing for a $200 prize.
On the Fremont Festivus website find a list of participating businesses. Included are experiential events, including discounts at some of Fremont’s favorite restaurants. Lend a hand building headdresses at The Powerhouse with the Fremont Arts Council, from 11a – 3p, for a few minutes or the afternoon. Take a free Hatha Flow Yoga class at the Fremont Anytime Fitness, at 10a, after signing a waiver, and visit Fremont Health Club from 9a – 1p for free classes and tours. Finally, attend the newest Moonshine Revival Tent original Fairy Tale at West of Lenin, with a $5 discount on tickets for Saturday night with the code ‘FESTIVUS’.
Several shops are offering discounts during the Holiday Bazaar, including a flat discount just for saying ‘Festivus.’ Find 15% off at Pipe And Row, 10% off at Outsider Comics & Geek Boutique (plus a free comic,) 10% off at Juniper Flowers, and 5% at Daybreak Records.
At American Music, find a discount on select items, and at Wright Bros. Cycle Works get a bigger discount on all Winter Sale items. The Bastyr Center Dispensary will have a 20% discount on all natural gift products during the Health & Beauty Product Fair going on from 9a – 2p.
Best of all, a few locations will be giving out free stuff during Fremont Festivus. Get a gift bag at the NW Primary & Specialty Clinic Fremont, and refreshments at HomeStreet Bank. Enjoy free samples of tea and hot, spiced cider at B. Fuller’s Mortar & Pestle, and stop by the Curiosities & Tasting Room at Fremont Mischief for samples (for those 21+,) and a deck of cards for those younger.
While wandering Fremont, and checking out the great opportunities to be found in this unique, creative shopping district, you can also earn a chance to win through a drawing on December 31st. On the Fremont Festivus website, find a link to a .pdf for the Holiday Bazaar entry form. Print out the form, take it with you to get stamps, stickers or signatures at 8 of the participating businesses, and then send in the form, with your contact information, postmarked by December 10th.
On Sunday, Fremont Festivus winds down with the Fremont Sunday Market, the Food Truck Round-Up, a fundraiser for Nathan Hale High School, more headdress making with the FAC and a Studio Sale at Rodman Gilder Miller’s Glassblowing Workshop.
Get more details about Fremont Festivus on the official web page – or check out the ‘red’ items on the Fremocentrist Community Calendar. It promises to be a great weekend at the Center of the Universe – one to put the Fun back in Holiday Shopping, as only can happen in Fremont!
See you there!
