On Monday, July 8th, at 5:30p, the Seattle Department of Transportation will officially install ‘Rob Mattson Way’ in honor of a friend of our neighborhood, and all of our neighbors.  Honorary street signs will be installed next to the Ballard Customer Service Center, where Mattson worked, at 22nd Ave NW and NW 56th St.

Rob Mattson worked for the Department of Neighborhoods, and in other areas of the City of Seattle, for over 40 years, providing extraordinary public service and advocacy for the citizens of Ballard, Fremont and other neighborhoods.  His service, through the Ballard District Council and, later, the Lake Union District Council, cannot be overstated.  Mattson retired in 2013, and passed away, at age 69, in September 2018.

Mattson was survived by his parents, his wife Mary Moore Mattson, brothers, and several children.  Join his family, friends, co-workers and grateful benefactors as Mike Stewart, Executive Director of the Ballard Alliance, facilitates the unveiling.

At 6p, after a few words by family and special guests, the signs for Rob Mattson Way will be dedicated and permanently installed, to honor this tireless advocate who worked hard for the good of citizens all around our community.  Please join this celebration, and help honor the great work of this great friend!
