This Friday, December 2nd, from 6p – 9p, the Fremont First Friday Art Walk showcases the artists and art and holiday-themed gifts at several small retailers and restaurants around the Center of the Universe. After lighting up Lenin, and celebrating traditional Fremont Festivus events (including dancing ‘round the Festivus pole to the music of Project RFK,) at Red Triangle, stroll out into the neighborhood and see the incredible art (and opportunities) that abound.
One of the best examples of the special art shows going on during this December Art Walk is at Portage Bay Goods. On Dec 2nd, Fremont’s favorite gift shop will display art by women who have worked in the store – Shalene Lundgren, Lauren Rathburn, Jasmine Gil, Veronica Margarito Lopez, Katherine Sultan, and Rachel Sandoffsky. Come see the creative sides of your favorite shopgirls, alongside an always outrageous selection of holiday items, plus jam-packed goodie bags for the first few dozen customers in the doors. Those 21 and over can also enjoy a glass of wine while exploring the store.
Find treats and beverages as well when visiting Frame-Up Studios and seeing the art Tara Flores. In this series, Flores has explored the topics of energy and movement on a cellular scale in beautiful abstraction. After checking out the art, talk to Frame-Up clerks about framing and printing options for gifts and recording holiday memories.
This month, find a special show of handicrafts and original photography at Ancient Arts in West Fremont. Explore the multi-media art of Darla Rewers, including pottery, soaps and jewelry, all made with healing, loving, and compassionate intentions. Also view the travel photography of Brent Osborne, and learn more about the clinic and what they can do for any pets you have in your life!
During the December Art Walk, find more art at Fremont Jewelry Design, Art F/X, Outsider Comics & Geek Boutique, and other venues listed on the Fremont First Friday Art Walk website. This is the best Art Walk of the year for finding new art and artisanal items, and meeting the artists that make them!
Plus, you can start off this exploration of art at Red Triangle, with live music, Santa, giveaways, and holiday lights atop our bronze sculpture of Lenin. Come celebrate Fremont Festivus starting at 5p on December 2nd.
