The Seattle Office of Arts & Culture (ARTS), in partnership with the Seattle Department of Transportation, is seeking a practicing, published poet, fiction, or creative non-fiction writer for a project-based artist residency in the Northwest tower of the Fremont Bridge. Only established, professional writers living within Seattle, or within 100 miles of this city, are eligible to apply.
The writer selected will undertake an in-depth exploration of the iconic bridge, and its surroundings, and write a piece in response to their experience. The budget for this project is $10,000 ($5,000 for the residency, and $5,000 for the project/presentation/documentation.)
The application deadline is 11p on February 16th, 2016. Applications can be submitted electronically through the CaFE website. For more information about this project, contact Kristen Ramirez, Public Art Project Manager, at 206/615-1095.
This project is being funded by the Seattle Department of Transportation 1% For Art Funds, along with a University Bridge lighting artist residency. Find more on that on the ARTS website.
