On Sunday, October 25th, at 5p, the non-profit City Fruit will celebrate another strong harvest, done in the extraordinary year of challenges that has been 2020. While the organization faced budget cuts, they still managed to accomplish much of their mission to
Overcoming the logistical hurdles caused by observation of COVID-19 transmission precautions and volunteer scarcities, City Fruit still managed to:
- Net nearly 80 fruit trees to protect them from pest damage
- Welcome and train six Neighborhood Ambassadors who collectively harvest thousands of pounds of fruit
- Donate fresh, nutritious fruit to over a dozen community partner organizations
- Host 12 ‘Fruit for All’ pop-ups, and served 743 community members
- Host a youth program with the Young Women Empowered (Y-WE) at the Marra Farm
Help City Fruit celebrate these accomplishments, and toast the amazing community of volunteers and supporters that made it happen. Most importantly, fund the harvesting, orchard stewardship, and education programs of City Fruit with the proceeds from your tickets.
