City Neighborhood Plan To Get Review During Open House On Oct 26th

On Thursday, October 26th, from 6p – 7:30p, at Hale’s Palladium, the City of Seattle Department of Neighborhoods will host an Open House to share information and discuss to how housing is growing, and being built, in our city.

This Open House will discuss amendments to the Comprehensive Plan, and correcting language in Neighborhood Plans for Aurora-Licton Springs, Northgate, Roosevelt, Wallingford, and Fremont.  The language correction concerns a proposed policy change requiring developers to contribute affordable housing.  Neighbors need to help choose new language.

The Open House will also gather input on what should be included in analysis and review of City policy for Accessory Dwelling Units, often called ‘Mother-In-Law’ or backyard cottages.  These secondary housing units get converted or built on single-family lots, and the City needs to do an environmental analysis to find out how these will impact our neighborhoods.  Please come find out the purpose and process of environmental analysis (EIS) and share what is important to you about accessory dwelling units.

This public forum is free to attend, and is sponsored by Seattle City Councilmember Mike O’Brien.  For additional information contact Jesseca Brand, in the Department of Neighborhoods, at 206-397-5778 or jesseca.brand@seattle.gov, or find this information on the Seattle.gov calendar.
