Come See If They’ll Make It – Portage Bay (Re)Grand Opening Friday, May 6th!

Farewell, old location of Portage Bay Goods (in April 2011) now part of history Photo by K. Lindsay

On Friday, May 6th, the courageous and optimistic gals from Portage Bay Goods (owner Sue Sanem, along with stalwart co-managers Shalene Lundgren and Rebecca West) will either pull of an amazing feat of derring-do, or a chaotic mess of overestimating and underplanning, when they promise to move the store 2 blocks west to the former Fremont Place Books location (621 N 35th) in less than a week.

Don’t you want to stop by and see if they arrived safely?

If you come in the evening, you can take part in their Grand Opening Celebration and Jewelry Trunk Show for Tanya Comerford, as part of the First Friday Art Walk.  No matter what, expect a party as the ‘gift shop for the thoughtful procrastinator’ opens up a new chapter in its history.

It’s getting harder and harder to resist the urge to shout, “After 30 years you folks are still Waiting for the Interurban? News flash: It’s not coming!”

Come help celebrate their reopening, and suggest jokes about the art that now stands outside their window – the Fremont Guidepost!
