The Double XX Fest at Stone Soup Theatre calls it a wrap this weekend, April 21 – 23, but not without giving audiences its absolute, very best! ‘The Best of the Fest’ show features six short plays, selected by celebrity judges and audience votes, as the favorites of both the first and second weeks of the Fest.
This week, at the DownStage of Stone Soup Theatre, Thursday, Friday and Saturday night only starting at 8p, will be –
- Landis and the Bear by Catherine Berg, directed by Margie Slovan
- Chiquita, by Deborah Harbin, directed by Renee Cyr
- Strike by Aoise Stratford, directed by Katherine Karaus
- How To Play The Game by Diane Sampson, directed by Lenore Bensinger
- The Wedding Ring by Rebecca Haber, directed by Lenore Bensinger
- Porn for Women by Kristin M. Scatton, directed by Kristina Hauptfeuhrer
The performance line-up also features a staged reading, of a play to be determined. All of this is brought to you by the considerable talents of Tabitha Bastien, Tammy Batey, Reece Bredl, Kelly Combs, Susan Connors, Ralph Fontaine, Meaghan Halverson, Bailey Heims, Petra Huntington, Erin Ison, Chris Macdonald, Fox Matthews, Lindsay Morck, Chris Scofield, Butch Stevenson, Evan Tucker, McKenna Turner and Carolynne Wilcox.
To purchase tickets, go on-line to Brown Paper Tickets, or phone the box office at 206.633.1883. First-timers to the 2011 Fest pay only $12 – but tickets cost half-price for those who attended week one or two!
In addition to performances, Stone Soup will offer a final playwriting workshop, to instruct those interested in exploring the medium, or those with experience who want to hone their craft.
On Saturday, April 21st, from 2p – 5p, at the UpStage, writer/director/performer Rebecca Goldberg will present Write A Play, Right Now – a three hour class that incorporates improvisational games, writing prompts and experimentation to help realize your own script. No genius, or even ideas, needed. Bring a laptop or pen & paper, and be dressed for movement – and preregister with Carolynne Wilcox (by e-mail or at 206/633-1883) because space is limited. Cost is a donation of $10, payable at the door.
