On Thursday, September 10th, from 7p – 8:30p at the Phinney Neighborhood Association Red Room, the first public meeting will take place on the Seattle Sensory Garden planned for the Woodland Park Zoo.
The Seattle Sensory Garden is a proposed expansion of the Rose Garden at the Zoo, creating a place that engages the senses of sight, touch, smell and sound, to increase accessibility for all. Funded by the Seattle Parks & Green Spaces Levy Opportunity Fund, this project has already been coordinated with the Lions Club, the Hearing Speech & Deafness Center, the Lighthouse for the Blind, ARC of King County and the Phinney Neighborhood Center.
The design of this Garden is being developed, and the public are invited to give input on what we want to see incorporated. The Seattle Department of Parks & Recreation project manager will be at the September 10th meeting, along with representatives from Fischer Bouma Partnership, Land Morphology and Hafs Epstein, to provide information on this unique exhibit now proposed.
