Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) is currently building a new North Seattle Transfer Station near Stone Way between N 34th & N 35th Streets.  In the weekly construction update to neighbors they reported that work will be going on this Saturday, September 19th, from 9a – 5p, on the elevated deck.

Water service for the Transfer Station, and a new fire hydrant for the corner of N 34th St and Woodlawn Ave N, will also be done on Saturday, September 19th.  This water main work will require shutdown of water service to adjacent businesses – who will be notified separately.  To minimize impacts, the water shutdown will occur overnight on September 19th, from 5p – Midnight.

The work being done will require restrictions of parking on the north side of N 34th St, west of Woodlawn Ave N.  Also, the westbound lane on N 34th St west of Woodlawn will be closed to traffic intermittently this week, and through Saturday, with flaggers on-site to direct traffic.

The SPU is replacing the original Transfer Station with a new facility designed to process our waste more effectively and efficiently, and is expected to open in 2016.  For questions on the rebuild project, visit the project website, or feel free to contact the project team at 206/819-5948 or SPU_NTS@seattle.gov
