Right now, there are two very different crowd-funding drives going on for two very different Fremont ‘institutions.’
This is the last week to give to the Indiegogo Fundraising Campaign for Stone Soup Theater, a 501(c)3 non-profit. Stone Soup needs help raising money to cover the increasing costs of rent, and rather than hosting an expensive auction or other rubber-chicken dinner, Indiegogo gives us all a chance to contribute what we can – and ask our friends – without long speeches or wearing shoes that hurt our feet. As a ‘Flexible Funding’ campaign, Stone Soup will receive any money pledged, even if the ultimate goal of $5,000 is not achieved.
This week, a new Kickstarter Campaign has launched for raising $250,000 to purchase the Paseo Caribbean Restaurant out of bankruptcy. Paseo closed, very suddenly, on November 11th, and a business called Savvy Orders started this fundraising drive to buy and re-open, with the original employees, the uber-popular Cuban sandwich shop. As a Kickstarter campaign, if the entire amount is not pledged by December 12th at 6:38p, Savvy Orders will receive none of the money.
Both campaigns give donors a chance to give money to potentially influence the future of Fremont. Can you help?
