Dedication Of One Of Two NEW Lighted Intersections For Fremont Pedestrians

Come see the new lighted traffic intersection, at N 36th & 1st Ave NW, on Oct 28th at 9a!! Photo provided by Fremont Chamber

On Monday, October 28th, at 9a, the Fremont Chamber of Commerce is helping organize a ribbon cutting and first illumination of the new traffic signal at N 36th St & NW 1st Avenue.

This new traffic signal, like the pedestrian signal just installed at Phinney Avenue N, on N 39th St, will make it easier for all pedestrians to cross these busy arterials.  The traffic signal on N 36th St will also help vehicles attempting to merge into traffic from NW 1st Ave.  Perhaps the most important, the students, and their parents, from Our Beginnings early learning center at the intersection will be safer going and leaving from the school.

The children from Our Beginnings will be given the honor of flipping the switch on the new traffic light on Oct 28th, amidst remarks from Sam Zimbabwe, Director of the Seattle Department of Transportation, Keri Burchard-Juarez, Deputy Director of Project Delivery at Seattle Public Utilities, Pete Hanning, owner of The Red Door and President of the Fremont Chamber, and Suzanne Burke, owner of Fremont Dock Company, another adjacent business.

Please consider joining in this joyous celebration of this long-awaited community improvement – and please look for this light (and the other on N 39th,) and pedestrians, while out driving, cycling and walking our ‘hood.
